OPU is ultrasound guided transvaginal follicle aspiration performed under mild sedation or general anesthesia. For the procedure, a transvaginal probe is inserted to the vagina, and a needle is used under the guidance of the probe to aspirate the fluid filled follicles. This fluid is then examined under microscope to isolate the oocytes.
